Breaking Barriers

I'm David Morgan, a senior student at Old Dominion University, double majoring in mechanical engineering and history with minors in Evironmental Issues and Management and African American Studies. I am undergraduate research scholar whose focus is in evironmental justice policy with an emphasis in transporation engineering and interests of the history of science and technology specfically aerospace. I was involved in a 3D modeling and scanning internship at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. where I explored how my engineering skills, especially CAD, could contribute to historic preservation, particularly in aerospace technology. I have recently published research on An Aerospace Archeology project. My psssion in aerospace was ignited during my time at Denbigh High School's Aviation Program, where I was actively involved in the HUNCH (High School Students United With NASA to Create Hardware) program while collaborating with NASA. Proudly, I'm a member of the Tidewater Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen Inc. and the Virginia Space Grant Consortium. At Old Dominion University I'm part of AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics), generations to come. Additionally, I’m part of ODU’s chapter of NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) driven by a commitment to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.”
