I'm David Morgan, a fourth year student at Old Dominion University, majoring in mechanical engineering with a minor in history and African American Studies. I was involved in a 3D modeling and scanning internship at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. where I explored how my engineering skills, especially CAD, could contribute to historic preservation, particularly in aerospace technology. My journey in aerospace was ignited during my time at Denbigh High School's Aviation Program, where I was actively involved in the HUNCH (High School Students United With NASA to Create Hardware) program while collaborating with NASA. Proudly, I'm a member of the Tidewater Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen Inc. and the Virginia Space Grant Consortium. At Old Dominion University I'm part of AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics), generations to come. Additionally, I’m part of ODU’s chapter of NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) driven by a commitment to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.”
I recently completed and presented my historical research paper at the AIAA on Old Dominion’s aerospace research conducted in the 30 ft by 60 ft Wind Tunnel. My aim is to continue similar research focusing on the evolution of wind tunnel testing and technology. I am currently planning Diversity Equity and Inclusion research in the engineering field, overlooking the historical aspects of educational programming. I have interests spanning history, aerospace technology, aviation and mechanical engineering design. I also enjoy hobbies such as cooking, visiting museums and historical sites, and bowling. An intriguing aspect about me is that I have relatives who served in the Tuskegee Airmen during WWII, which ignites my passion for aerospace history. I aim to inspire the next generation of aerospace enthusiasts to promote diversity in the aerospace field and contribute to future preservation of the nation's historic achievements in aerospace
